A message from the CEO

Join us as we take the next steps in excellence

Before the NHS was created, The London Clinic was fulfilling its own charitable mission. From the very beginning, this centred on excellence in clinical care and a global focus on sharing best medical practice. Today, as an independent hospital we see over 120,000 patients a year with access to around 700 consultants, most of whom are exceptional leaders in their field.

The next steps to be supported by the Campaign are significant in terms of their scale, scope and impact. This second phase, taking us up to 2026, represents an important and life-affirming opportunity to halt the seemingly relentless path of cancer. Please join our Patron, Trustees, an amazing team of special advisors and me in helping secure the philanthropic investment needed to meet this challenge. Together, we can give cancer a tough and tenacious response. Importantly, we can also ensure that the advances we make are there for everyone, regardless of social background or the borough our patients happen to live in. We invite you to join us in Building Tomorrow’s Health Today.

About The Campaign

In 2032, The London Clinic celebrates 100 years of supporting and sharing healthcare excellence. As a charity, this special anniversary presents an opportunity. It invites us to meet the medical challenges and growing healthcare inequalities facing us and future generations, especially in the field of cancer.

Giving Opportunities

Our goal is simple. The charity will become one of the world’s leading independent cancer hospitals, offering rapid diagnostics, effective treatments, holistic support and worldwide education and research programmes. We seek to serve not just those who can navigate these services, but to reach out to thousands of patients on NHS waiting lists in underserved communities, and to create and effect change beyond the walls of our hospital.

Our Priorities

Leading the way to better outcomes for everyone

Why do we need to do more?

In the United Kingdom, there are currently around 20,0001 avoidable deaths each year from cancer. By 2040, it is anticipated that as many as 5.3 million2 British people will be living with the disease. Worryingly almost half of all cancer cases are diagnosed at the later stages3 and in socially deprived communities, mortality rates for breast and prostate cancer are considerably higher.4

When the disease is caught early, we know that these figures improve significantly.5

All of this compels us to refocus our resources and seek further new investment to enable a rapid and agile response. In short, it means elevating cancer care to the point where clinical innovation and excellence are available to all.

Why us and why now?

Our charity is unique in the way we offer the highest quality, personalised care across the whole cancer pathway. In one cohesive location, at the heart of London, we can bring transformational change by creating a bridge between the independent sector and the NHS.

In each phase, the Campaign will tackle a required focus for change:

Phase I

Expanding Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Services: The earlier a diagnosis, the higher the chance of survival.

Phase II

Providing the very best treatment pathways: Giving patients access to the latest, most effective medicine.

Phase III

Innovation and Holistic Care: Supporting the development of the present and future ways of treating cancer, here and across the world.
